CULTURE AS AN ENGINE FOR THE ECONOMY - 15:00-16:00
What is the role of culture in Europe? How can art and culture, particularly in Europe, contribute to the recovery of the economy? How can cultural organisations be culturally entrepreneurial? These questions are central to this programme, organised in cooperation with the Representation of the European Commission in the Netherlands. Studies performed by the European Commission concluded that culture is an important contributor to economic growth and creates new jobs. This gives rise to a programme for artists and cultural organisations that supports the development of activities for a wide European audience and protects and promotes the cultural and linguistic diversity in Europe. During the meeting, the Creative Europe 2014 - 2020 proposal, which is still in development, is explained. Opportunities for the cultural sector.
In addition there will be a presentation by The Hague 2018 about the Cultural Business Case. More than ever there is a need for a constructive cooperation between cultural institutions, businesses and governmental and social institutions in the city. On the Ondernemersplein (Business Square) a start is made with this approach in mind under the title Cultural Business Case. Shared goal is to activate the power of culture. Culture as a network that binds and connects. At the EUROPEAN LIFE I LIVE participants zoom in on relevant cases. Collaboration is the key. Check: www.culturelebusinesscase.nl.
