The European LIFE I LIVE festival terrain consists of two outdoor podiums offering a richly diverse palette of sounds, including pop, singer-songwriter, classical and jazz. One of the many festival highlights will be Christine Tobin, Irish singer-songwriter and winner of the BBC Jazz Award for 'Best Vocalist'. Flemish collective Yevgueni dominate the cabaret scene in their native country, enjoying immense popularity with jam-packed theaters, full squares and strong television presence.
The Classical/Jazz podium takes audiences from passionate Mediterranean musical storytelling to atmospheric Nordic jazz; from delicate, French impressionist musical portraits to classic European string quartets. No less than seven international shows represent an impressive cross-section of musical traditions. Dutch harp superstar and winner of the 2012 Edison Classical Music Award, Lavinia Meijer honors French romance in her tribute 'French Kiss', while mezzo soprano Luciana Cueto seduces her audience with Spanish, Italian and Portuguese melodies in 'Spanish Lullaby'. The international, specialist musicians of The Hague's very own Baroque orchestra, the New Dutch Academy, led by Simon Murphy, present music from Central and Eastern Europe in a beautiful programme 'Autumn Leaves', and star Dutch jazz pianist Rembrandt Frerichs performs music from his new album Continental together with special guests from the Nordic lands.
